At CarePlan, we believe exceptional care goes beyond meeting physical needs — for instance, it nurtures emotional well-being, cognitive health, creativity, purpose, and meaningful human connection. We are excited to introduce an innovative addition to our continuum of care management services: Recreational Companion and Cognitive Engagement Services.
This personalized service is designed to enrich the lives of older adults, individuals living with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, those experiencing cognitive decline. In addition, this service can benefit anyone through engaging activities, companionship, and community involvement. Through therapeutic art experiences, meaningful conversation, and carefully curated community outings, our Recreational Companion helps individuals remain active and connected, as well as engaged while supporting their overall quality of life.
Therapeutic Art for Cognitive Wellness
Creative expression is a powerful tool for promoting emotional health and cognitive engagement. Therefore, our therapeutic art activities are thoughtfully adapted to each individual’s interests, abilities, and comfort level. In addition, participants are encouraged to express themselves in a welcoming, judgment-free environment.
Research continues to demonstrate that creative activities can help reduce stress and anxiety, stimulate memory and conversation, improve mood, encourage problem-solving, and provide a meaningful sense of accomplishment. For individuals living with dementia or mental health conditions, art often becomes another way to communicate, connect, and celebrate personal identity.

Curated Community Experiences
Remaining connected to the community plays an important role in maintaining independence and emotional well-being. Our Recreational Companions thoughtfully plan outings based on each client’s interests and mobility, as well as goals. For example, these experiences may include visits to museums, botanical gardens, local art shows, community festivals, parks, farmers markets, concerts, libraries, coffee shops, educational programs, or seasonal events.
Every outing is carefully selected to encourage social interaction, cognitive stimulation, confidence, and joyful experiences. Altogether, this creates opportunities to remain actively involved in the community.
Meaningful Companionship
Without a doubt, one of the greatest gifts we can offer is genuine companionship. Our Recreational Companion develops trusting relationships built on compassion, patience, respect, as well as shared experiences. Whether engaging in conversation, creating artwork together, attending community events, or simply enjoying time together, these interactions help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation while fostering confidence and emotional wellness.
Personalized Cognitive Engagement with a Recreational Companion
Every person has a unique story, personality, and life experience. With this in mind, every engagement plan is individualized to support each client’s interests, strengths, cognitive abilities, and care goals. Activities are intentionally designed to encourage memory, creativity, communication, social interaction, and purposeful engagement while honoring each individual’s preferences and independence.
At CarePlan, we understand that quality of life includes much more than medical care. We also help individuals continue doing what brings them purpose, joy, and fulfillment. Thus, Careplan provides personalized cognitive engagement, therapeutic art, companion services, community participation, and meaningful relationships,
